DGMA ESOL Workshop Helps Non English Speakers

This month the Dumfries and Galloway Multicultural Association  had its final ESOL workshop!

DGMA members are holding up their certificates proudly to celebrate their passing the course.  Let’s recap on what the ESOL workshops have provided the members of the DGMA…  ESOL is a way for non English speakers to learn the English language.  The best way to learn or improve your english is to take an english for speakers of other languages course, often known as ESOL.  This encourages development and improvement in communication skills of learner in order that individuals may carry out everyday tasks and integrate more fully into their community with some individuals progressing to further learning/voluntary work/employment, to improve their lifestyles, enhance their experience of living in Scotland.

The course teacher will always check what level of english you have already reached and suggest the course that will be most suitable for you. Your class will also include people who have a similar level of English to you, and the teaching will be friendly, informal and fun.

An ESOL course will include speaking, reading, writing and listening. It will also cover spelling, grammar and punctuation.  DGMA has been happy to provide this service to Dumfries & Galloway and will be bringing it back again in the near future.
