DGRI Ward’s Care Achievement Is Poignant Moment For Departing Nurse

A WARD at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary has been recognised for outstanding care.

The team at ward B3 have earned the prestigious Level 3 Care Assurance Awards, celebrating their commitment to excellence.

Executive Nurse Director Mark Kelly and Deputy Nurse Director Gail Meier visited the ward to present these prestigious awards and acknowledge the dedication of the entire ward team.

Mark Kelly said: “The team has shown incredible dedication to patient care. This award is a testament to their hard work and commitment.”

The Level 3 Care Assurance Award is an unannounced inspection based on the local Care Assurance Adult Inpatient Standards. Ward B3 has achieved the Silver Level 3 Care Assurance Award in Falls, Relationship-Centred Care, and Infection Control.

In addition, the team was awarded the Bronze Level 3 Care Assurance Award for Pressure Ulcer Prevention, Food, Fluid, and Nutrition, Discharge/Transfer, and Staff General Knowledge.

The awards presentation was particularly poignant for Senior Charge Nurse Alison Dempster, who will be retiring later this month after an incredible 40 years of service. Alison has been an integral part of NHS Dumfries and Galloway, making a lasting impact on both patients and colleagues throughout her career.

Reflecting on Alison’s contribution, Gail Meier said: “Alison has dedicated four decades to patient care, and her leadership, compassion, and expertise have been invaluable to Ward B3 and the wider organisation. She will be greatly missed, and we extend our heartfelt thanks for her years of unwavering service.”

NHS Dumfries and Galloway extends its best wishes to Alison for a well-earned and fulfilling retirement and congratulates Ward B3 on their well-deserved Care Assurance Awards.
