This will be the twelfth annual Christmas Day Dinner staged at the River of Life Church, by Dumfries Railway Station.
Professional hotel and restaurant chef, Eddie Vallance, will be putting his talents to good use again, along with people from the town who have been signing up to help in a variety of ways.
Mark Smith, Pastor of the Church says, “Loneliness can be even worse during the festive season; it feels as though everyone else is having a fantastic 
time, except you. Here at River of Life, we’re trying to help as many lonely people as we can, by opening our doors and tables, for a free Christmas Dinner on Christmas Afternoon. People find themselves alone for a variety of reasons: work or personal circumstances, family difficulties, bereavement, finance and a million of other reasons, but absolutely everyone is welcome, and it’s free!
We have a service at 11am on Christmas Day as well, and there’s an open door for that, or people can just arrive for the meal at 1pm if they’d rather.”.
