DISTINGUISHED BRITISH VIOLINIST, LORRAINE MCASLAN, TO PERFORM SERIES OF CONCERTS IN LANGHOLM FOR ABSOLUTE CLASSICS

One of the most distinguished British violinists of her generation, Lorraine McAslan, begins a three-day series of concerts in Langholm on Thursday, October 16, for this  month’s session of Absolute Classics.

Playing alongside the “truly outstanding” Australian pianist Victor Sangiorgio, the programme, which takes place in the Buccleuch Centre at 7.30pm, includes works by Beethoven, Debussy, Brahms and Franck.

Brought to the region by award-winning musical entrepreneur, Alex McQuiston, Absolute Classics is an independent charitable trust which delivers classical music concerts, workshops, master classes and a summer festival across Dumfries and Galloway.

Lorraine and Victor will then appear in Greyfriar’s Church, Dumfries, on Saturday, October 18, again at 7.30pm when the programme will include works by Brahms, Leclair, Mozart, Franck and Rossini.

The final concert for October takes place at the Buccleuch and Queensberry Arms Hotel in Thornhill on Sunday, October 19 at 3.30pm, when the pair will delight the audience with Beethoven’s Spring Sonata; Sonata by Debussy; Scherzo by Brahms and Cesar Franck’s Sonata for Violin & Piano in A.

Alex said: “Lorraine McAslan is an absolutely amazing musician. The expression and soul she puts into her music is just spellbinding.”
