As in previous years and in conjunction with the Dumfries and Galloway Standard the ‘Guid Nychbur’ award is awarded to a person or persons who the judges feel has done their part to be ‘good neighbourly’ to their neighbours in our town.
There is also an award for the ‘Junior Guid Nychburr’.
2014 many nominations were received for both awards, the Guid Nychbur 2014 award was presented to Alison Hall for her unstinting work as Chairwoman and a founder member of the local Dumfries SANDS (stillbirth and neonatal death) charity , with the Junior award being presented to Abbie Fitzpatrick of Dumfries for her help and support to the local branch of MS.
The executive committee would like if both awards were again awarded to deserving individuals and / or groups in our community (the junior award can be presented to any person, group or team under the ages of 16)
You have the chance to nominate someone from your neighbourhood either individual or a group who deserve the title ‘Guid Nychbur 2015’ or ‘Junior Guid Nychbur 2015’
Guid Nychburris Festival Chairman Robert Kennedy said “we all have great neighbours and great friends within our communities, but do we think them special enough to be awarded the prestigious title of ‘Guid Nychbur’? I am sure there are many in our neighbourhoods whose work and talents we do admire, I , as a member of the judging panel, look forward to reading the various nominations”
Nominations for both awards can be forwarded, in writing, to the Sandy Kilpatrick, reporter Dumfries and Galloway Standard, 1 Park Lane Dumfries DG1 2AX or by e mail to [email protected]
