On Thursday 27 November DG Employment Total Access Point (TAP), a Dumfries and Galloway Employability Partnership initiative to provide a ‘one stop shop’ for employers, held an event to promote the opening of their new premises at 24 Nith Place, Dumfries and the expansion of the Employer Engagement Service.
DG Employment TAP promotes the work of all employability services across Dumfries and Galloway through a single point of contact through which employers can access a range of services to support their business. The new premises will enhance the delivery of the outreach service across the region and be a focal point that employers can access. Interview, training and meeting rooms are available for use by employers and partner agencies. By utilising this service businesses can save time and resources using tghe facilities availableThe event was attended by partners from business, Dumfries and Galloway Council, Scottish Government and the Local Employability Partnership including:
• Councillor Ronnie Nicholson (Leader of Dumfries and Galloway Council)
• Councillor Colin Smyth (Chair of Economy, Environment and Infrastructure Committee)
• Gavin Stevenson (Chief Executive, Dumfries and Galloway Council)
• Hugh McAloon (Scottish Government)
Keynote speakers sharing their vision of employability included Adam Purvis, Business Entrepreneur and Founder of the Power of Youth; Des McMenamin, Pinney’s of Scotland and Eddie Black, Eco-genics and Hugh McAloon outlined the Scottish Government strategy for Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce.
Councillor Colin Smyth, Chair of the Council Economy, Environment and Infrastructure Committee stated, “This initiative is an example of how Dumfries and Galloway Council and wider partners are achieving our regional priorities by working with employers to build a strong economy and supporting our young people into sustained employment.”
