A Popular Italian Restaurant in Dumfries burned to the ground in the early hours of this morning August the 30th 2017. Little Italy on the Moffat Road, Dumfries was famous for serving Italian fresh seafood, game, local sourced produce and was one of the towns busiest eateries.
Emergency services were alerted to a fire at Little Italy, Moffat Road, Dumfries around 0216 hours this morning (Wednesday 30 August 2017).
In an emotional facebook post this morning restaurant Owner Rab McAleese Stated “Sitting here in tears telling you all that little Italy burned to the ground in the early hours. Thankfully no one was hurt, watching it burn while we stood helpless was hart braking me Nicky and all the little team would like to thank every single customer for there support and custom. Please bare with us and we will keep all informed.”
Police and Fire Service attended the scene and upon arrival found a well-developed fire within the building. At this time no one appears to have been injuried however the restaurant has been severly damaged as a result of the fire.
Moffat Road was closed for a number of hours however has since reopened. Police remain at the scene and joint Police and Fire Service investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out in due course.
