Dumfries and Galloway Health and Social Care Partnership (DGHSCP) has been made aware of an extension to an Improvement Notice issued by the Care Inspectorate in relation to Carlingwark Care Home.
This notice gives the owners Park Homes until November 9 to complete improvements to the Castle Douglas care home’s environment and the infection control processes.
It also recognises progress which has been made towards achieving requirements in three other areas, and has extended the deadlines in those areas until December 30.
DGHSCP’s absolute priority is the welfare of the residents. It immediately sought assurance on their welfare from Carlingwark’s owners Park Homes, and that work is being undertaken to meet the requirements of the Improvement Notice.
New admissions to Carlingwark Care Home are currently suspended while the improvement work takes place.
DGHSCP views the issuing of an Improvement Notice as a serious matter, and notes that the Care Inspectorate has the authority to cancel a care home owner’s registration should it fail to meet expectations.
Stakeholders are being briefed, while DGHSCP continues to communicate with Park Homes around their work to meet the requirements set out by the Care Inspectorate within the set timescales.
