Sharon who is currently working in Glasgow as an infectious disease registrar is hoping to raise as much money as possible for both of these very special charities this summer, over the next 5 months she will be taking part in 5 Cycle challenges including – May 5th: Drumlanrig Sportive 138km ,May 20th: Caledonia Etape 130km, July 2nd: Tour of Scotland 740km ,August 25th: Skye Mor and Beag 152km, September 15th: Arran Sportive 90km, which total up to 1120km of pedalling.
Sharon told DGWGO “I have chosen two charities which have become very close to my heart over the last year. I guess the Dumfries and Galloway Sands fundraising is the most personal, Sadly, my lovely sister Shona and her husband Tom unexpectedly lost their beautiful little baby boy Rory, who was still born in August which has been a devastating time for them and our entire family. After an entirely normal pregnancy, it was completely unexplained. When my sister lost Rory I was shocked and saddened by the decisions a parent to be has to make within the first 24 hours after the death of a baby. Whether a post mortem or not, registering the birth and death on the same day…. when they’d planned for 9 months how to decorate the nursery etc. Just devastating.”
Sharon Continued “Sands provide such a VITAL support that’s missing from the current post-natal care after stillbirth.” Find out more by clicking HERE
Sharon also has chosen to support Tearfund Yemen Crisis appeal. She Said” Yemen has currently the worlds worst ever humanitarian crisis, biggest cholera and Diphtheria outbreak – and the world has turned its back (due to the political war with Saudi).
