Flowers for Mum Whose Baby Was Born During Hospital’s Royal Opening

A BEAUTIFUL bouquet of flowers was gifted to a mum who gave birth to her son on the day of the official opening of the new Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

Becky McGuffie from Dumfries gave birth to baby boy Jack Campbell Edgar last Thursday at 10.24 am – at the same time HRH The Princess Royal was present to officially open the new hospital.

Flowers had been delivered to help decorate the hospital, and it was felt that to help mark the doubly happy occasion a bouquet of flowers should be presented to Becky.

Reacting to the gift, Becky said: “It was a bit of a surprise, but a lovely one at that.”

Jack weighed 7lbs 8 oz at birth, and Becky added: “His name is Jack Campbell Edgar after his great, great papa who would have been 100 years old this year.”

NHS Dumfries and Galloway Chief Operating Officer and Dumfries and Galloway Health and Social Care Chief Officer Julie White presented the bouquet to Becky.

Julie said: “Last Thursday was a very special day, and of course especially so for Becky.
“Amid the happiness around the official opening of the new hospital, we were delighted to gift a big bouquet to help celebrate baby Jack’s arrival into a hospital which now has the royal seal of approval.”
