At approx 11:30 today, Thursday October 19th 2017 Galloway Mountain Rescue Team were mobilised by Dumfries Galloway Police Division on the request by the Scottish Ambulance Service to assist with the evacuation of a forestry worker with serious leg injuries.
As the Ambulance crew assessed the casualty, Galloway Mountain Rescue team members prepared to package the casualty. HM Coastguard – Prestwick SAR Flight ‘Rescue 999’ was also in attendance, and team members used a ‘high line’ to assist in winching the injured worker onboard the aircraft – landing was not possible. ‘Rescue 199’ then flew the patient to hospital.
