FROST WARNING CONTINUES INTO THE WEEKEND FOR D&G

The Met Office has issued a further warning to Drivers and  residents in Dumfries and Galloway as the Yellow Warning of Ice for SW Scotland, Lothian Borders and the Dumfries and Galloway region  contines into the weekend from 7.00 pm tonight Friday 18 November until to 10.00am on Saturday 19 November

A spokes person for the met office stated ” Wintry showers, continuing during Friday and overnight, will lead to the possibility of ice forming as temperatures fall this evening and overnight. This will occur primarily on untreated surfaces but perhaps also where grit is washed off by frequent showers. Additionally, 1-3 cm of snow may accumulate on hills above around 200 m and more than 5 cm above 400 m. Some of the heaviest showers could produce slushy conditions even at low levels. Please be aware of possible tricky travel conditions.

A cold northwesterly airstream will continue to bring heavy showers or rain, sleet, snow and hail through this period. Clear spells in between will allow temperatures to fall close to or below freezing – hence the likelihood of some ice.”
