The Galloway Explorer Scouts gave an interesting talk to the Kirkcudbright Rotary Club on Tuesday evening.
They described the reasons why they enjoy scouting and outlined the camping trips they have been on and will be going on in the future.
The presentation also encompassed another part of their Public Relations badge work which began with a camping trip to Loch Ken Activity Centre. While there they wrote an article on their activity weekend and had it published in the Galloway News. The explorers had plenty of photos to show the Rotarians which showed various activities they have undertaken such as backwoods cooking, camping, fire building and hiking. The presentation also highlighted some of the camps that they have been involved in which included a Blair Atholl Jamborette, a trip to Switzerland, a trip to Kenya and the World Jamboree in Japan this year.
Apart from the PR badge, they are also working on their Fundraising badge which involves organising a Ceilidh at the Cocoabean on the 1st of May. The explorers asked the Rotarians for help towards selling the Ceilidh tickets which are on sale now in Brambles, Masterpiece and Thomsons in Kirkcudbright and the Cocoabean Co. Twynholm. The money raised will go towards capitation fees which all scouts must pay, a trip to Switzerland this year and various camping trips to enable them to complete their Zodiac badge which requires them to camp every month for up to a year.
