Galloway Mountain Rescue provide Food for Thought
Galloway Mountain Rescue are heading to Kirroughtree in the Galloway Forest Park this Friday to give visitors some Food for Thought.
Food for Thought is a monthly lunchtime event for adults at Kirroughtree Visitor Centre, combining fascinating topics and expert-led discussions with tasty food and great company.
June’s special guest speakers, Galloway Mountain Rescue Team, provide search and rescue support to members of the public in the Galloway Forest Park and beyond. The team, which consists entirely of unpaid volunteers, is on call 24 hours a day 365 days a year to respond to emergencies, from Stranraer in the west to Dumfries in the east. They dovetail with other emergency services and they also play an active role in the local community, supporting events such as Newton Stewart Walkfest .
Food for Thought with Galloway Mountain Rescue starts at 10.30am with coffee and scones, followed by a presentation on the Team’s activities, history and the local area and a demonstration and display of a vehicle and rescue equipment. A delicious two course lunch will follow. Places cost £13.50 per person and can be booked by emailing [email protected] or phoning Lizzie on 01557 814040.
