Police Scotland is investigating a number of thefts and attempts at Cooperative Stores in the region on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 March 2015.
Around 1300 hours on Friday 27 March 2015 two males and two females were reported acting suspiciously in the alcohol aisle of the Cooperative Store in Moffat. They left the store empty handed after being challenged in the store.
At around 2000 hours that same day, six bottles of vodka with a value of nearly £80 were stolen from the Cooperative Store in High Street, Sanquhar. Again two males and two females were seen in the premises at the time.
About 1800 hours on Saturday 28 March 2015 five bottles of Jack Daniels were stolen from the Cooperative in Wigtown. Again, two males and two females were seen in the shop around that time.
The description of these four are (1) male, 30/35 years, short dark hair, about 6′ tall, medium build. (2) male, about 30 years, skinny build. (3) Female, mid 20s, shoulder length dyed bright red hair, and (4) Female, mid 20s, dark hair tied up.
It is believed by witnesses that all four may be Eastern Europeans.
Reports have also been received that these same four people have been in the Cooperative Stores at Kelloholm and Castle Douglas, although nothing has been reported stolen.
