Dumfries and Galloway College (DGC) has received a positive report from Education Scotland, identifying a number of strengths in the college’s work within the region.
The feedback from His Majesty’s Inspectors of Education to the college Board of Management identified that Education Scotland are confident with the college’s progress.
When the inspectors visited the college earlier this year they focused on recruitment, retention, attainment levels and progression.
In their feedback report, the inspectors said: “Learners value being able access to key information in advance of starting their programme.
“All learners feel well supported throughout the application process which they describe as simple and straightforward.”
The inspection report was compiled after speaking with students, stakeholders and college staff.
The report continued: “Rates of learner progression to positive destinations are high and have remained steady over the last three years.”
In the recent destination survey, 96% of students move on to further study or into employment.
The report also identified that: “Curriculum staff provide learners with helpful support and information on the range and types of progression opportunities available to them.
“The majority of learners feel well supported in making informed choices, including applications to university or employment.
“Within curriculum areas, learners benefit from interaction with employers to raise their awareness of career opportunities.”
