Following the recent news that in the region of 250 jobs will be created at the Crichton Hall Hotel development, Dumfries and Galloway College have announced that a new hospitality course will be delivered at their Dumfries Campus from August 2019.
The National Certificate In Hospitality Operations will be delivered over 2-3 days per week to encourage students to work part-time with local employers alongside their studies.
The course has been created following discussions with local employers and has been designed to ensure students will be equipped with the skills required to work in the hospitality sector.
The hospitality and professional cookery staff at the College will deliver a wide range of disciplines to students including front of house skills, accommodation services, professional cookery and a variety of restaurant service styles.
The new course will complement the existing range of professional cookery and hospitality courses available at the College’s Dumfries and Stranraer Campuses.
Curriculum Manager, Kevin Somerville has commented “Worldwide, the hospitality sector accounts for nearly 10% of all jobs. It’s a huge sector and in our region there is potential for significant growth with many excellent employers operating in Dumfries and Galloway. This course will help to provide people with the wide range of skills needed to have a successful career in the industry”
