”At the end of the last Kirkcudbright Academy school year, Jack Hamilton, then an S3 student, was awarded the Rotary Young Mechanic Trophy. This was given to the most promising student from amongst those following the Academy’s newly introduced Automotive Skills course.
Jack was presented with the Trophy, a signed certificate and a professional set of deep reach socket spanners provided by the Rotary Club of Kirkcudbright.
He also had the chance to take a ride in, and the chance to have a look under the bonnett of, the 1931 Alvis 12/50 belonging to Kirkcudbright Rotarian Derek Smith. “
