Rotary Kirkcudbright held the annual Primary Schools Quiz on Thusrday 8 March. Teams of four pupils from Auchencairn, Kirkcudbright, Borgue, Twynholm and Gatehouse gathered together with parents, friends and Rotarians in the hall of Gatehouse Primary school, with a buzz of nervous excitement.
All went quiet as Quizmaster for the evening Paul Tebay, President Kirkcudbright Rotary, explained the procedure for the evening. Questions were asked in groups, each covering a curriculum subject and beyond into general knowledge and a pot-luck group.
At half time all teams were very close with Auchencairn half a point in the lead. However at full time Kirkcudbright had nosed ahead by a point, with no more than two points covering the rest.
The evening ended with presentation of trophy to the Kirkcudbright team and participation certificates to everyone else. Many thanks to John Riley, Head Teacher of Gatehouse and his staff, for again hosting the competion. The winners now go through to compete in Dumfries against teams from primary schools in the south west area of southern Scotland.
