KIRKCUDBRIGHT ROTARY CLUB HOLD YOUTH EVENT

The Kirkcudbright Rotary meeting held at the Selkirk Arms Hotel on Tuesday 28th November was a very special youth themed event.

The centre feature of the evening was the excellent meal prepared In the kitchen of the Selkirk Arms Hotel by Emma and Maya ( Main Photo), recent winner and runner-up in local stages of the Rotary Young Chef competition held at Kirkcudbright Academy.

Main course was Emma’s  “Oven baked breast of chicken stuffed with haggis wrapped in bacon on buttered cabbage, sautéed potatoes and a Drambuie cream sauce” This was followed by Maya’s  “Hot chocolate fondant, white chocolate shards, berry compote and cream”

With the help of Chris Walker ( Owner of The Selkirk Arms Hotel), Head Chef Ryan and his staff at the hotel, the girls rose to this challenge with quiet aplomb.

The evening was begun however with the winner of the Junior Youth Speaks competition Jerry from Gatehouse, who with great gusto presented his talk on chickens.  Not only of the chickens he cares for himself but also with some history.

After the meal the evening was concluded by Anna and Rebecca, two delegates who attended the Rotary District Challenge Enterprise weekend, giving a presentation of their experience at this intense business oriented event.
