On Sunday the 30th of May at around 12.30pm Police where called to The Forest Of Ae near to Dumfries to deal with large gathering of people.
A Police spokesperson stated on Twitter and Facebook “We are asking members of the public to avoid travelling to the Forest of Ae today.
This morning (Sunday, 30 May) police received a report of a large crowd gathering within the forest and officers remain in attendance engaging with those present.”
Police unfortunately had to turn away a number of visitors as a result and are asked people to travel elsewhere instead.
Chief Inspector Scott Young, from Dumfries Police Station, said: “Police Scotland’s approach throughout the pandemic has been to engage with the public, explain the legislation and encourage compliance, but our officers will not hesitate to use our enforcement powers as a last resort. I want to thank those members of the public who have complied with officers so far.”
