Innes Common contacted DGWGO to tell us his story about fundraising for a Lockerbie based charity that is very important to him and his family . Innes told DGWGO :-
“My sister (Rachael Common) was involved in a serious car accident 6 years ago resulting in serious life changing injures including a serious head injury and damage to her brain.”
“Sports Driving Unlimited has been a great part of my sisters recovery and works wonders with disabled adults and Children from around the region.SDU is a registered charity started in 2007 by a small group of enthusiastic volunteers who are keen for people with an impairment to enjoy the fun, excitement and health benefits of taking part in sports carriage driving.They agreed to use the operating name ‘Sports Driving Unlimited’ to put into words their belief that anyone with a physical or mental impairment can take part in sports carriage driving and benefit from therapeutic contact with ponies.”
“I, along with my Brother Charles and my partner Kirsty completed the National 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for this charity, at the minuet we estimate the amount raised is around the £1000 mark however we still have to collect in some sponsor forms and confirm exactly how much in total we have raised.”
“We completed the National 3 Peaks in a time of 20hours and 17 minuets starting from the foot of Ben Nevis at 06:00hrs on Saturday morning and finishing at the summit of Snowdon at 02:17hrs on Sunday morning.”
