Police Scotland is seeking witnesses to a serious road traffic collision in which a local 66 year lady suffered spinal injuries. The collision occurred at around 0910 hours on Wednesday 8 February 2017 on the A75 Dumfries by-pass, between the A701 and the A709 roundabouts.
The collision involved three vehicles, a white coloured Daf recovery lorry being driven by a 33 year old man from Drongan, Ayr; a white coloured Toyota Yaris being driven by a 66 year old woman from Lockerbie and a grey coloured BMW car being driven by a 56 year old man from Carlisle.
As a result of this collision the female driver of the Toyota Yaris was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary with serious spinal and chest injuries. She has since been transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where she remains in a serious condition. The drivers of the other two vehicles were uninjured. The road at the scene was closed for over six hours to allow crash scene investigation work to be completed and the vehicles removed.
Constable Paul Watson of the Roads Poling Unit said “we would like to hear from any witnesses who were on the A75 at the scene when the collision happened. The know that the road was busy at the time and anyone with any information which might help should call us at Dumfries on 101.
