Dumfries & Galloway Council Highlights Asylum Seekers’ Property Search

Dumfries and Galloway council has reached out to local landlords and agents, highlighting Mears Housing’s search for properties to provide housing for asylum seekers on behalf of the Home Office. The properties will have a minimum 3-year rental contract with guaranteed income.

The number of asylum seekers in Scotland has been increasing, and Mears Housing aims to provide a local solution for the housing crisis while providing a secure home for some of the most vulnerable people in society. Landlords interested in participating can contact Mears Housing or the council for more information.

The Home Office contract within Scotland previously only limited property acquisitions to within Glasgow. Due to the challenges within the Glasgow market with increased rents and low stock availability, Mears now can acquire properties across Scotland.
