DG Food and Drink website opens for business
A new website for Dumfries and Galloway’s food and drink industry has opened for registration. www.dgfoodanddrink.org is the new industry information portal for businesses working in our region’s food and drink sector, providing a one stop shop for information relating to training, trading opportunities and industry networking.
DG Food and Drink is a business information and support service provided to Dumfries and Galloway’s food and drink sector on behalf of Dumfries and Galloway Council. It seeks to support the growth and development of Dumfries and Galloway’s food and drink sector, including food production, retail and hospitality businesses.
Dumfries and Galloway’s food and drink industry plays a vital role in our region’s rural economy, generating £43.52 million for the local economy and employing 964 people in full or part time jobs in 2012. Businesses operating in the food and drink sector across Dumfries & Galloway are being encouraged to connect via the new website and through social media to share knowledge, opportunities and resources.
Councillor Colin Smyth, Chair of the Council’s Planning, Housing and Environment Committee said:
“I welcome this latest initiative as part of our ongoing support of the region’s food and drink sector. DG Food and Drink is a valuable resource for local businesses and I would encourage them to take full advantage of the business information and support services offered via the new website.”
