NHS Dumfries and Galloway celebrates role in national awards win
A RECRUITMENT and human resources team from NHS Dumfries and Galloway were celebrating with colleagues from across Scotland at a national awards event.
NHS Scotland HR and Recruitment Teams won the Chairman’s Award for Outstanding Achievement at the 2022 S1 Jobs Recruitment Awards held in Glasgow and hosted by comedian Jo Brand.
Pamela Jamieson is Deputy Workforce Director, and she said: “The last couple of years have been extremely testing for the NHS across Scotland, with incredible demands placed on our workforce.
“Throughout the pandemic, support has been provided to staff who have been asked to be so flexible in their ways of working, while a huge amount of recruitment has continued throughout – focused on the sustainability of services.
“It’s fantastic that the efforts nationally have been recognised with this award, and we were delighted to have staff there representing Dumfries and Galloway.”
S1 Jobs described a night ‘filled with examples of professionalism of the highest calibre’, but said that the award to NHS Scotland’s HR and Recruitment Teams represents efforts throughout the pandemic which ‘have set a new standard within the industry’.
Attending the event from NHS Dumfries and Galloway were Workforce Sustainability Manager Vic McDade and HR Advisor Alice Walker.
Vic said: “It was a fantastic evening, and a fantastic result for the national programme to be recognised with this award.
“After more than two years of incredibly demanding circumstances it was fantastic to see all the hard work being celebrated.
“However, all of this is with the recognition of ongoing pressures and challenges across health and social care, and with a determination to ensure that staff are supported to do their incredible continuing jobs, and that we work towards successful recruitment into such a wide range of roles.”
