A SPECIAL surgery will be held this Saturday (June 2) for Pinneys’ workers and others affected by the planned food processing factory closure at Annan.
The meeting in the town’s Victoria Hall between 3 and 4 pm has been organised by Dumfriesshire Clydesdale and Tweeddale MP David Mundell and constituency MSP Oliver Mundell.
It coincides with the end of the formal consultation process following the shock closure announcement in early April which threatened 450 jobs and the livelihoods of numerous contract workers.
Scottish Secretary David Mundell said: “With the consultation period coming to an end many Pinneys’ staff are facing a worrying time and some difficult decisions.
“We will look into any issues which are flagged up to us and offer information and advice where we can.”
Mr Mundell added that efforts were continuing in the background to try to find a company which might be in a position to secure a future role and employment at the factory.
