POLICE APPEAL FOR INFORMATION REGARDING REGIONAL SPATE OF THEFTS

Police appeal for information regarding a spate of un-related thefts across the region recently  Dumfries and Galloway

A small quantity of cash has been stolen from a house in Georgetown Crescent in Dumfries sometime overnight Saturday 22/Sunday 23 August 2015. Constable Keith McKinnell of Police Scotland;and at Dumfries said “this appears top have been a sneak-in type theft at this house whilst the property was unlocked. We remind the community to ensure that doors and windows are locked or snibbed prior to retiring for the evening. The temptation in this hot and muggy spell we are experiencing might be to leave windows open for air, however we would strongly recommend making sure that they are not left in a state which makes the property vulnerable.”
Sometime between 1330 hours and 1630 hours on Sunday 23 August 2015 a theft took place in the rear garden of a house in Victoria Street in newton Stewart. The items stolen included a turbo air mover, blue in colour, a wand for a carpet cleaning machine, a bright yellow coloured pump up sprayer and a carpet groomer. The value of the property is nearly £700. Constable Chloe Rice of Police Scotland at Newton Stewart said “this theft happened in broad daylight and there must have been a vehicle involved to remove what is some pretty heavy equipment. We ask anyone who was in the area of Victoria Street, or the Riverside Road car park where this house backs onto to get in touch with us through 101 if they saw anything that might assist in the investigation.”

Police Scotland officers in Stranraer are investigating a break in to a house in London Road in Stranraer which was broken into sometime between 22 July and 22 August 2015. Household items including two lantern clocks, a blue ginger jar, tools, a caravan awning, clothing, crystal glasses and a quantity of wine and champagne have been stolen. Constable Caillie Douce of Police Scotland at Stranraer said “the value of the property stolen in this housebreaking is still being calculated however is likely to run to many hundreds of pounds. We want to hear from anyone who may have any information which would help us in this investigation. Between 150-200 litres of diesel fuel has been stolen from a lorry parked in the Scottish Water Treatment Plant in Troqueer, Dumfries. The theft took place sometime overnight Monday 17/Tuesday 18 August 2015.
