Two wheelie bins at a house in Young Avenue in Dumfries were set on fire sometime around 2345 hours on Monday 28 September 2015. The fires were put out by the householder and both bins were damaged. No other damage was caused to the house. Constable Fiona Sword of Police Scotland said “the consequences of this act could have been catastrophic had the householder not been alerted by the smell of burning plastic and taken quick action. We are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area around this time and who may have see or heard anything suspicious. In particular we are keen to speak to a female who was walking a small white terrier dog in the area and may have seen those responsible. Anyone can call us with information at Dumfries on the 101 number.”
