Additional charities also offered the chance to benefit from free Fair pitches
Organisers of this year’s upcoming Galloway Country Fair (20 and 21 August) have confirmed Poppyscotland as its official charity partner for 2016.
The team at Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate, which has hosted the prestigious event since 2011, nominated the charity with a mission to deliver life changing support to the Armed Forces community in Scotland.
As part of the partnership a host of Poppyscotland volunteers will attend the Galloway Country Fair to raise vital funds. They will sell show programmes, with 20 per cent of all the takings from these, going directly to the charity.
In addition, Poppyscotland will take a stand at the event offering a range of attractive merchandise and information about the essential work the charity undertakes in support of those who have served, those still serving, and their families.
Anna Fergusson for Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate said: “We are thrilled to once again bring a charity element to the Galloway Country Fair. Poppyscotland does some remarkable work all-year-round so it is great we are able to recognise them as our official charity partner for 2016.
“We have nominated an annual charity since 2014 with a lot of success so hope to raise a healthy amount of money for Poppyscotland over the weekend.”
Stephen Shirres, Regional Fundraiser for Poppyscotland added: “The Galloway Country Fair is one of the most prominent annual events in the region so we are very pleased to be recognised as the official partner for 2016.
“Not only will it help increase awareness of Poppyscotland in the region, it will help us raise some much needed funds that will go directly into helping and improving the lives of the Armed Forces community. We would like to extend our thanks to the Galloway Country Fair team and look forward to meeting and chatting with visitors during the big weekend.”
In addition to Poppyscotland, organisers of the Galloway Country Fair are also delighted to announce that it will be giving away free exhibition space at this year’s event to three charities.
Charities wishing to apply for free exhibition space are kindly requested to submit their trade application which is available on the website https://trade.gallowaycountryfair.co.uk/ by 30 May 2016. Applications will be reviewed by the Fair’s committee in April and three charity pitches will be allocated.
