Power Cuts As Garden Shed Fire Causes Chaos In Portpatrick

Yesterday January the 10th 2018, Fire Fighters fought a blaze that affected an electricity sub-station in St Patricks Street, Portpatrick in Dumfries and Galloway.

The fire which is believed to of started in a in a garden shed where a gas cylinder exploded causing damage to a nearby sub station resulted in the power supply being cut throughout the village. Once the fire was brought under control by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Scottish Power got to work to regain the electrical supply and they estimate that the majority of the village was reconnected reconnected within a few hours and supplies may be interrupted again over the next few days when more work is being done on the sub station .
