Three local police officers were promoted recently by the Chief Constable at a ceremony at the at the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan.
In the first, Tom Findlay was promoted to the rank of Inspector and will take up a role in Community Policing in Dumfries . Tom has 26 years service and has served at a number of stations across the region including Whithorn, Locharbriggs, , Thornhill and Lockerbie. Tom spent many years with the Roads Policing Unit and has also worked in Firearms Training. He is a married man and includes photography, fishing and bowls as his hobbies.
Dean Little, who has 16 years service has been promoted to the rank of Detective Inspector in the proactive CID at Dumfries . Dean has served at Stranraer, Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie and in the CID at Annan and as well as a spell in the Drugs Squad. Dean is married and enjoys tennis and cycling in his spare time.
The third officer to be promoted was Julia McKie who was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in Community Policing, Dalbeattie . Julia has 14 years service and has served at Annan, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright, Dumfries and has also worked in what was the Force Control Room in and in the Training Department. Julia is married and enjoys horse riding, running and spin classes in her spare time.
All three officers have now taken up their new roles in V Division of Police Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway .
