Hundreds of local school children have created a poppy display at Crawick Multiverse in Dumfries and Galloway ahead of Remembrance Day.
They have been hard at work making around 400 poppies to display at the iconic artland.
One red poppy has been made in memory of each local person who lost their life during WWI, WWII and the Korean War, and black poppies have been made in memory of local miners.
The poppies were arranged at Crawick Multiverse with assistance from an artist, and pupils from Sanquhar and Kelloholm Primaries, Closeburn House School and Sanquhar Academy took part in a Remembrance parade.
The event included music composed by Sanquhar Academy pupils especially for the parade.
Sanquhar Brass Band also attended the event and played music including the Last Post, and a two minute silence was held.
Site manager Ian Bell, who has been leading the project, said: “Community engagement is always a top priority here at the Crawick Multiverse and local school pupils are regular visitors.
“It is so important for youngsters to know about local history and we wanted to get them involved in their own special event as we approached Remembrance Day. They have been extremely creative and shown tremendous enthusiasm and we applaud their fantastic efforts.”
The event was made possible thanks to Holyrood Trust funding. Crawick Multiverse also extends its thanks to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission / Living Memory Fund.
The poppies will remain on display until 1pm on Friday (11th) Nov when they will be taken to a variety of local memorials.
