Last Wednesday the 8th of June, Team Members from Galloway Mountain Rescue Team were awarded their Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medals by the Lord Lieutenant of Wigtown, Mrs Aileen Brewis.
The commemorative medal is awarded to all members of the emergency services, marking the seventieth anniversary of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne.
Galloway Mountain Rescue Team volunteers provide 24hr Search and Rescue coverage for SW Scotland. We operate in both Mountainous, Rural and Urban areas in support of Police Scotland.
28 team members were presented with the award, with length of service ranging from 5 to 47 years.
