Carson Calls on  Record Access for Community Pharmacies

The Scottish Government previously made a commitment that community pharmacies in Scotland would have access to the emergency care summary by 2014, but this has not been delivered.

In England community pharmacists have had access to the summary care record since 2015.

The Scottish Government previously made a commitment that community pharmacies in Scotland would have access to the emergency care summary by 2014, but this has not been delivered.

The Scottish Conservative campaign “Save our Surgeries” calls on the Scottish Government to prioritise support and funding for primary care.

Commenting, Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson said:

“It is important that our health services in Scotland move towards making pharmacies a key partner in primary health care.
“We need to reform General Practice and deliver person centred health care.
“The Scottish Government must move to enable community pharmacists access to GP records in order to provide for better, safe and more accessible care within our communities.
“The Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party has been leading the campaign to support GPs and primary health care, through our Save Our Surgeries campaign.
“I am delighted with the public response to our campaign.
“I want to see our NHS transform to deliver a more patient focussed health care system – it’s time that the Scottish Government got on with the job.”
