South Scotland MSP Joan McAlpine has praised the family support and advice services provided by Relationships Scotland following a visit to their child contact centre in Dumfries.
Commenting, Ms McAlpine said:
“It was great to catch up with the team at Relationships Scotland and I’m very grateful to John and Duncan for taking the time to update me on their work.
“Relationships Scotland provide a vital service for my constituents – helping families resolve differences, keeping parents and children in contact and counselling carers and the bereaved.
“The child contact centre helps children maintain relationships with the absent parent or other relatives in the case of family breakdown. The staff in Dumfries facilitate supported and sometimes supervised contact to make things easier and hopefully alleviate some of the stress experienced by families during difficult times.”
The National Office of Relationships Scotland supports the network of 22 counselling and mediation member services, and 45 child contact centres.
Relationships Scotland Dumfries & Galloway have centres in both Stranraer and Dumfries. The team can be contacted on 01387 251245.
