Councillor Welcomes Replacement Of Park Place Play Park Equipment

Annandale North Councillor Adam Wilson has welcomed the decision at Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Communities Committee to replace the Helter Skelter slide at the Park Place Play Park. The slide was removed from the park due to age and safety reasons.

The decision was taken at the Communities Committee as part of the Capital Programme. Along with the decision to replace the slide at Park Place other works will take place across Annandale North including the replacement of litter bins, replacement of picnic tables and the replacement of railings at Hope Johnstone Park in Moffat.

Commenting Councillor Adam Wilson said;

I welcome the investment in our park at Park Place. This follows on from many concerns from local residents about the state of our parks in Lockerbie. The decision taken today will result in £20,000 being spent over 2017/18 to replace the slide and to fix the fence around the perimeter which is long overdue.
It is my view that any item in our play parks that is removed should be replaced on a like for like basis and I am pleased that the Council has followed this principle here.
While this investment is welcome there is still a considerable amount of further work required to improve all of our parks in Lockerbie which I will continue to champion.”
