£1,465 RAISED AT SAINSBURY’S FOR GALLOWAY MOUNTAIN RESCUE TEAM

THANK YOU!

Galloway Mountain Rescue team  are delighted to announce that thanks to all the staff and shoppers at Sainsbury’s (Newton Stewart), they have raised an amazing £1,465 between June 2015 and June 2016.

A spokes person for the team stated “We were proudly the Supermarket’s Charity of the Year 15/16.

This total does not include the £132 we donated from our fundraising efforts with Sainsbury’s to the ‘Newton Stewart Flood Fund’ in the wake of last years devastating floods.”

They went on to say “GMRT have two big projects under way this year that this donated money will help greatly; a new Incident Control Vehicle with technology that will both assist rescuers when managing incidents on scene, and communicating with other Emergency Services/Control Centres.  We will have more info on this later in the summer! Secondly, we are soon to train, equip and qualify a number of team members to become Swift Water and Flood Responders. This work will assist Scottish Fire and Rescue’s Swift Water Fire Fighters in Dumfries and Galloway. ”
