The beautiful stitch work of the Dumfries and District Embroiderers Guild will be showcased this month in a special exhibition at A’ the Airts, Upper Nithsdale’s community arts centre.
The works on show formed part of the recent triennial exhibition by the Dumfries and Galloway textile collectives entitled Fabric, Fibre, Thread and exhibited by the guild in conjunction with the Solway Quilters and the Spinners, Weavers and Dyers.
The Dumfries and District Embroiderers Guild is one of the biggest and most active groups of its kind in Scotland.
The 73 guild members meet once a week every Thursday for classes and workshops at Gracefield Arts Centre, Dumfries, with a meeting on the first Thursday of the month at Maxwelltown West church hall, from September to May.
The free exhibition of the guild takes place at A’ the Airts at 8-12 High Street, Sanquhar, and runs from Friday, 28 August, to Wednesday, 23 September.
