SCOTTISH CABINET MEETING TO BE HELD IN DUMFRIES

Ministers to tour Scotland
Scottish Cabinet to be held across the country.
Meetings of the Cabinet will regularly be held in towns and cities across Scotland – giving people the chance to raise issues directly with the First Minister and her top team.

From now on, Cabinet will regularly hold their weekly meetings out with of Edinburgh with the first meeting set to be in Dumfries on 26 January at Easterbrook Hall.

As part of the meetings there will be the chance for Ministers to get a real insight into the issues affecting the local area and a discussion where the public are invited to quiz the Cabinet and give their views.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said:
“The government I lead intends to be open, listening, and available in a way we have not seen before – the most open and accessible government that Scotland has had.
“That is why we are making sure that the business of government is open to everyone who wants to be involved and we want to hear your views. And those views will not only be heard, but will also result in real action.
“Our strongest focus is on growing our economy, protecting public services, tackling inequality and empowering our communities. But we must be united in the business of making Scotland a better place to live and work. Together we can build a fairer and more prosperous country.

“The last time I was in the area I made a commitment that the Cabinet would visit Dumfries so I am delighted that this is the first of many Cabinets to be held across Scotland.
