SHARPEN YOUR PENCILS- HOOK IS BACK AT MOAT BRAE!

Peter Pan Graphic Novelist leads BIG DRAW to start the next Adventure at Moat Brae – where Peter Pan began
The first ever artist to create a Peter Pan graphic novel will have his pencils at the ready to set Dumfries off on the BIG DRAW NEXT ADVENTURE IN NEVERLAND on Sunday 11th October from 11am – 3pm. People of all ages are invited to meet ‘Stref’ and help him complete the giant drawing and to see inside Moat Brae – Where Peter Pan Began.
1 a 1 a moat brae 6There will also be face-painting, messy play and Neverland craft activities run by Wee Blethers at this free event. Everyone is welcome to come along and join in, no special skills are require – just a good imagination.
The Free Open Day also gives visitors a chance to find out more about the partiallyrenovated Moat Brae house and see the plans to create an international visitor attraction and National Centre for Children’s Literature and Storytelling in the heart of Dumfries.
The Big Draw is the world’s biggest drawing festival with thousands of enjoyable, and mainly free, drawing activities which connect people of all ages with museums, outdoor spaces, artists, designers, illustrators – and each other.
The Big Draw is for anyone who loves to draw, as well as those who think they can’t! The international celebration of drawing has grown from one day in October 2000 in the UK to an annual month-long festival of drawing across the world.
Stephen White (‘Stref’) is an Edinburgh-based illustrator, writer, and comic book artist. For a number of years he worked for DC Thomson on The Dandy, The Beano, The
Broons and Oor Wullie. His recently published graphic novel of Peter Pan has been highly acclaimed and features scenes set in the garden at Moat Brae. ‘Stref’ will be signing copies of the book at Moat Brae on 11th October.
Flora Burns, Trustee of the Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust, said: “Our open weekends are always fun but we are really looking forward to this one. It will be great to see how the next adventure in Neverland turns out as everyone contributes their own little bit of the action”.
The Open Weekend will also include a Business to Business event as part of Dumfries & Galloway’s Business Week on Saturday 10th October from 12pm – 4pm. This drop in session is for anyone who would like to find out about potential business opportunities with the Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust.
