Spate Of Break-ins Across Region Causes Concern For Police

Police are appealing for witnesses after a number of break-ins and thefts in the Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Ruthwell areas.

These happened at private and commercial premises the Oakwell Road, Shawhead and Racks Road areas between Tuesday, 27 and Wednesday, 28 August, 2024.

Items were stolen include a white pick-up vehicle, a silver 4×4 and a grey and black horsebox.

It is believed the suspects travelled along the A75, between Castle Douglas and Annan, and the Low Road, between Dumfries and Annan, throughout the night.

Officers are appealing for information as enquiries into the circumstances continue.

Detective Constable Rachael Houston, CID, Dumfries said: “This was a significant crime spree and it’s imperative we catch those responsible.

“If you were in the area of any of the break-ins or may have seen the vehicles in the vicinity, please get in touch with police.

“We’d be keen to hear from anyone who saw people or vehicles acting suspiciously around the affected areas. I’d also ask anyone with dashcam footage to please review it and bring anything of significance to our attention.”
