Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Library Service is delighted to be hosting a reminiscence afternoon which aims to support older people in our communities.
This open session will take place in the Ewart Library on Monday 6 February from 2pm through to 4pm.
This peek at the past will include a chance to look at the wonderful old newspapers which show the shops, adverts and news of a bygone era. There will also be old photographs showing Dumfries town and surrounding areas which will hopefully generate some memories and discussion during the afternoon.
Chairman of the Council’s Communities Committee, Councillor Tom McAughtrie said;
“The event at the Ewart Library is a great opportunity to view Dumfries’ past and chat to other people in the community who have memories of the town. I may even pop along myself – despite my young gentlemanly looks I can remember the days of buses in the High Street, seeing the Animals in the Lyceum after they’d been in America, and I even recall my fellow Member Councillor Groom singing with the Tartan Tremors!”
This event free and is open to everyone to come along and enjoy a chance to reminisce.
