A SUCCESSFUL conclusion has been reached following work to establish a new provider to deliver GP services out of Sanquhar and Kelloholm.
Following a procurement process, Ayrshire Medical Group are now set to assume responsibility.
Linda Bunney is Head of Primary Care Services, and she said: “This is an extremely welcome and positive development, and we’re grateful to everyone who has been a part of this process.
“In November last year, the partnership of GPs at Upper Nithsdale Group Practice communicated their plans to step down from the responsibility for the day-to-day running from 1 May 2022.
“This led to the work which has been undertaken to ensure a continuity of service for patients in Sanquhar and Kelloholm and the surrounding communities.
“We would like to thank patients for the patience and understanding they have demonstrated during this time, and to the members of the local community who have supported work around the procurement process.
“It is expected that the new providers will be in a position to shortly engage with the community, and NHS Dumfries and Galloway looks forward to working together with them around the delivery of secure sustainable services.”
