Three Arrested In Connection With Theft Of Pensioners Life Savings

Police Scotland report that three local men have been arrested in connection with the recent high value break-in at a house in Carnegie Street, Dumfries when a pensioners life savings were stolen in Dumfries. The men are all from the Dumfries area.

The officer leading the investigation, Detective Inspector Dean Little of Dumfries CID said “Inquiries in relation to this incident have been continually ongoing since it was reported and following an excellent response from members of the public we have managed to recover a substantial quantity of stolen property as well as apprehending those responsbile for this shocking crime. This will provide some comfort to the elderly victim who has understandably been affected by the incident.
“The investigation is still very much ongoing and I would again like to appeal to members of the public to get in touch with us if they believe they have information in respect of this matter. As previously highlighted a large quantity of £100 notes were stolen during the raid and I am particularly keen to hear from anybody who may have been offered £100 notes in recent days or from anybody who has received £100 notes through their business. Any information can be passed to Police Scotland by telephoning 101 or passed anonymously to Crimestoppes on 0800 555 111”.
