Road Crash – A75 Carsluith
Police Scotland report that they are still dealing with a road crash which happened on the A75 Gretna to Stranraer road at Carsluith at around 0300 hours on Wednesday 17 June 2015. Three articulated lorries were involved in the crash and as a result the road has been completely blocked. Diversions are in place while the debris from the contents of the trailers are transhipped.
Vehicle 1 is a red Mercedes Actros lorry which was carrying a load of parcels, oil and liquids and was being driven by a 30 year old man from Preston.
Vehicle 2 is a blue Scania articulated lorry which was carrying a load of meat and was being driven by a 39 year old man from Letterkenny in Northern Ireland.
Vehicle 3 is a black Scania articulated lorry and was carrying an excavator and a digger, and was being driven by a 38 year old man from Omagh, Northern Ireland.
As a result of this crash the loads from vehicles 1 and 2 were spread across the roadway, and the digger from vehicle 3 fell from the trailer.
The driver of vehicle 2 was the only injured party and he was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary where he was treated for minor injuries including cuts to the head and arm and glass in an eye. He has since left hospital.
Work is currently ongoing to remove all the debris from the roadway in order to have it fully open again.
