The Youth Beatz Fringe needs creative, fun, enthusiastic young people, aged 12 to 25, to get involved in the planning and delivery of its events.
The Youth Beatz Fringe is a series of events leading up to the main event Youth Beatz, now celebrating its 9th year. It offers young people many opportunities in their communities. Previously, these have included, family fun, sports activities, music events, multicultural events, health and wellbeing days, and roller discos.
Young people on the steering group will work closely with the experienced youth work team to consult with their peers and work creatively to design an exciting new fringe programme.
No experience in event planning is necessary, however, volunteers need to be enthusiastic and fun with a passion to bring events into the community. There will be various training and accreditation opportunities for those involved in the steering group.
Councillor Ted Thompson, Provost of Dumfries, said: “I’m delighted to endorse another fantastic Youth Beatz Fringe. It gives our local young people opportunities to experience lots of activities and events tailored for them by their peers. The steering group is an integral part in the decision making and delivery processes and provides an opportunity that I urge young people to take.”
