YOUR CHANCE TO GO BEHIND THE SCENES ON THE SET OF BBC’S AUTUMNWATCH

Wildseasons is running a competition to win a behind the scenes visit to the set of Autumnwatch at Caerlaverock Nature Reserve for two people.

Residents and visitors to Dumfries and Galloway have the opportunity to win a behind the scenes tour of Autumnwatch at WWT Caerlaverock simply by going to walks and events in the Wild Autumn Festival.

Starting on the 2nd November on BBC2 Autumnwatch will be broadcast live from the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust’s Caerlaverock Reserve. This is a week after the end of the Wild Autumn Festival, a series of walks, talks and activities looking at the wildlife and countryside of Dumfries and Galloway running from Friday 9th to Monday 26th October.

Wildseasons has got together with Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust to give one lucky person a behind the scenes tour to see the BBCs natural history team in action, see Autumnwatch being made and experience the incredible wildlife spectacle that everyone else just gets to see on TV.

Chair of the Council’s Economy, Environment and Infrastructure Committee, Councillor Colin Smyth said; “The BBC’s decision to bring Autumnwatch to Caerlaverock is testament to the fantastic wildlife found in Dumfries and Galloway. The Wild Autumn Festival gives residents and visitors to Dumfries and Galloway the opportunity to see this in real life before watching it on TV. And now with this competition they also have the chance to go behind the scenes and see Autumnwatch being made. As many of the events in the festival are entirely free of charge anyone can go along and join in, and if you don’t win you will still get an amazing wildlife experience.”

To enter the competition people must come to one of the events in the Wild Autumn Festival and take a photo of themselves at the event holding up the wild seasons logo. This photo must then be posted to our facebook page www.facebook.com/wildseasonsDG, tweeted to @wildseasonsDG, e-mailed to [email protected] or posted to Wildseasons, Countryside Services, Dumfries and Galloway Council, Militia House, English Street, Dumfries DG1 2HR.

People who go to more than one event can enter for every event that they go to, but only once per event. Photos must be submitted by midnight on 26th October and the winner will be announced on Tuesday the 27th October.
The complete list of events can be found at www.wildseasons.co.uk along with information on the wildlife of Dumfries and Galloway, the best places to go for a day out in the countryside and places to stay while you’re here.

Wildseasons is a group of organisations and individuals concerned with wildlife conservation and tourism in Dumfries and Galloway led by Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Countryside Team and the Southern Upland Partnership. Events in the festival are being run by the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, RSPB, Lockerbie Wildlife Trust, Castle Kennedy Gardens, Logan Botanic Gardens, The Forestry Commission, National Trust for Scotland and freelance wildlife guides.
