Big Burns Supper – Dumfries & Galloways` biggest Winter Festival recently announced the addition of four new headline shows.
World renowned comedian Bill Bailey will be making his festival debut at Big Burns Supper
festival on January 20th at 9pm, at the Spiegeltent.
With musical virtuosity, surreal tangents and trademark intelligence, Bill Bailey tackles politics, philosophy and the pursuit of happiness in the show.
It was also announced that 5-star award winning performer, Camille
O’Sullivan will return the Big Burns Supper festival on January 21st at 9pm.Camille was recently included in Jools Hollands Top 25 live performances of all time by The TelegraphGraham Main, Executive Producer of the Electric Theatre Workshop, which produces the Festival said,
“We are really making a big deal about the return of the Spiegeltent and we have been carefully choosing shows and events that remind our audience why they love it so much. Artists like Camille O`Sullivan and Bill Bailey playing in a Spiegeltent help to position the festival as a place where you can experience intimate performances.’’
One of Scotland’s most celebrated musicians, Dougie Maclean, will present a
solo performance in the Spiegeltent on Sunday 21st of January at 2pm.
Continuing with the festivals strong Irish connections, We Banjo 3 will perform at the festival for
this first time on Saturday 20th at 3pm.
We Banjo 3 are said to be the pioneers of the Celt Grass movement which is a combination of Celtic folk music with the American blue grass style.
Dr Alasdair Allan, Minister for International Development and Europe, said:
‘’ Every year on January 25th, the day of his birth, Scots, and Scots at heart
remember the life and cultural legacy of Burns by hosting a Burns Supper.
Glasses of whisky are raised in toast and haggis is addressed like no other
food, it is a wonderful opportunity to come together in celebration.”The full programme, including the new Dumfries Fringe Festival programme, and all the events taking place will be announced on 7th November.
Big Burns Supper festival will take place between the 18th – 28th of January
in Dumfries, and will present a non-stop programme of events over 11 days of
comedy, music, theatre and cabaret.
