Organisers of the Doonhame Festival and Donnhame Kids festival have announced, via their Facebook Page, that this year’s event is now cancelled.
“It is with great sadness and frustration that following the First Minister’s announcement on Tuesday, by which the terms of Level Zero were unexpectedly amended, we have sadly no choice but to cancel Doonhame Festival and Doonhame Kids Festival 2021.
Only 3 weeks ago, we welcomed the positive announcement about the relaxation of physical distancing rules. This, combined with support and encouragement received from Event Scotland and Dumfries & Galloway Council, gave us the confidence to keep planning ahead, but the revised legislation announced this week demanding Im physical
distancing between attendees, makes it impossible to deliver the festival.
Guidance for hospitality services at outdoor events has also changed, meaning that alcohol and food should be table service only, which puts further barriers in our way.
We have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to deliver all that has been asked of us by Local Authorities and Scottish Government to ensure a safe and enjoyable festival for you and your friends and family, but the latest changes that have been implemented cannot be overcome.
The festival would have offered a much needed income for the countless staff, performers, local businesses and traders who have suffered so much during the past 18 months, and to have to cancel the event as such short notice, has a devastating financial impact on them and the festival too.
We have considered alternative solutions, but with time constraints, logistics and the safety of our customers, staff, performers, volunteers and the wider community in mind, we have ruled out all other alternatives.
We know that this is disappointing news for you all, but we would like to thank the artists, our sponsors, suppliers, staff, volunteers and everyone who bought tickets again this year, we are so grateful for your support.
If you have a ticket, and wish to carry your ticket over to 2022, you do not require to contact us. Your ticket will automatically roll over and you will also be supporting the long term future of the event. We thank those of you who are willing and able to do this.
The 2022 festival will take place on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th July 2022 and the Doonhame Kids Festival will take place on Sunday 17th July 2022. This avoids any conflict with other festivals in Scotland and the North of England and takes place on what would traditionally have been, the Wickerman Festival.
Should you wish to request a refund on your tickets, please complete the refund form with your booking information. Refunds will be processed in full within 21 days.
We ask for your patience on refund requests as we are a small team, so it will take time to manage all the administration involved in cancelling the event.
All refund requests must be received by 5pm on Sunday 8th August 2021. Beyond that, we will automatically carry your booking over to 2022.
Once again we thank you for your support through these difficult times and we look forward to more positive times ahead.
All ticket holders will be contacted directly about refunds
